The Gift of Reflection

The practice of reflection allows us to see where we are in any given moment and the path we took to get here.  If we use the gift correctly, it also provides the opportunity to contrast our current status with our stated plans, goals, dreams, visions, etc.

We all need, from time to time, to be reminded to slow down, take stock of progress, consider the successes and lessons learned, and determine whether our path is still the right one.

Depending on the answers arising from the reflection, we may see that we are exactly where we should be and continue on the course we’ve laid or that we’ve wandered a bit and need to realign. Or we may realize that we are “off course” because we need a new course.

These questions may help you get the right answers as you think about the past week, the past quarter, or the past year.

  1. What am I pretending to ignore?
  2. Did I invest my time correctly?
  3. What do I need to stop doing?
  4. What do I need to be doing more of?
  5. How can I help my team more?
